Death Cab For Cutie: Kintsugi
What this album makes me think on this beautiful Saturday morning:
Lets talk about No Room In Frame... To me it's a very sad but true story about people, their relationships, & their dreams. We all have dreams and goals. We all have things we aspire to do past the things we're doing today. Whether it's to be a successful marketing executive, or a successful movie director, or a famous actor, or a firefighter... I'm sure the list goes on & you get the point. We put these dreams on a pedestal. We want them more than anything else. We put them above anything else. Well what if you are in a relationship? What if the dream is more important than the team? I guess it's time to give one of them up! For most of us the simple answer is to break up and keep moving forward with the dream! Done & done. There's nothing wrong with that.
So you choose your dream over your partner because theres "no room in frame" for both. This is okay, it's respectable. You know what you want & your going for it. But think about the real issue here. It's not that you didn't have room in your life for both your dream and your love. The real problem is that deep down in your heart you don't believe that your love believes in your dream. You don't feel like they support you. A strong relationship, built on trust doesn't call for a "either or situation" it calls for love & support. It calls for doing things together. With true love it's okay that there's no room in frame.. because there's plenty of room behind the camera. It takes a team to make a dream a reality.
So next time you feel like it's time to pick your dream over your relationship, go for it! But when you tell the other person why don't say it's because you need to focus on making your dream come true.. It's because you don't think they support your dream and you can't afford to keep them around.
